Care

In purchasing a Monolith knife, you’ve invested in a precision tool and a piece of functional art. It’s built to be used — but it should be treated with care to provide a lifetime of performance.

Care Guidelines

  • Hand wash only and dry immediately
  • Wipe clean between tasks and keep dry
  • Never cut bone, frozen food, or on hard surfaces
  • Store safely in a dry place — never loose in a drawer

Storage

Store your knife out of harm’s way. Never place it unprotected in a drawer where it could be damaged or cause injury. We recommend a knife block, magnetic strip, or a saya/sheath for transport. Leather sheaths and wooden sayas are great for short-term use, but not ideal for long-term storage, as they can promote moisture buildup and rust.

Cleaning

Use mild soap and water only when necessary. After each use, wipe the blade clean and dry thoroughly.

Never, ever put your knife in the dishwasher.

Material Maintenance

  • Brass or Copper: Brighten with Brasso, Bar Keepers Friend, or similar metal polish
  • Stainless Steel: Polish with glass cleaner or steel polish, then wipe dry
  • Carbon Steel & Damascus: Expect a patina over time — it’s part of the charm. To brighten, gently rub with ultra-fine steel wool (0000). To prevent rust, oil the blade regularly with food-safe mineral oil or camellia oil
  • Wood Handles: Condition occasionally with food-safe mineral oil. Frequency will depend on how often the knife is used and washed

Warranty

We hope you’ll enjoy your Monolith knife for generations to come. If for any reason you’re unhappy with your purchase, please notify us within 30 days. We’re happy to offer an exchange or full refund — excluding custom orders — as long as the knife is in new condition with no visible damage to the blade or handle.

Custom knives are non-returnable. However, if your custom order doesn’t meet your expectations, we absolutely want to hear from you. We handle custom order concerns on a case-by-case basis and are proud to say we’ve never had an unresolved issue.

If a return or exchange is approved, please package the knife carefully — ideally the same way it was originally shipped to you. Avoid shipping knives together without ample padding, as sharp edges can easily slice through lightweight packaging. To protect the tip, we recommend securing it with a wine cork. If any damage is found upon return, we’ll estimate the repair and deduct that amount from your refund or exchange value.

All Monolith knives come with a full warranty against defects in materials or craftsmanship. If your knife is damaged, we want to help get it back in service. These are precision tools — works of art — and we care deeply about keeping them in top condition. Whether it’s a run-in with a disposal, tip damage, cracked handle, or even being run over by a car or tractor — don’t hesitate to reach out. Email: info@monolithknives.com

“It is our desire to leave people with more than just a purchase — to build a direct relationship between maker and user. Monolith seeks to fulfill the promise of commitment to quality and service, and restore some level of doing fair and honest business in a time of three-second sound bites and online consumerism. It is for this reason that we warranty and service our products for as long as we continue to make them.”Zack Worrell
