This bunka features a San Mai blade forged by Takefu. It consists of Aogami Super carbon steel in the core and clad by stainless steel. The blade has a gentle distal taper, it balances at the heel of the blade. The handle is crafted from locust and walnut, both locally harvested and stabilized for long-term durability.

Carbon Steel Care: 

• Keep it Dry: Moisture is the enemy. Never leave the blade in standing water, on a damp cloth, or in contact with leather. Never put it in the dishwasher.

• Clean Promptly: Rinse under running water after use and dry immediately with a clean cloth. While the blade is still developing a patina, wipe it down between prep tasks.

• Store Safely: Always store the knife in a dry place—avoid leather sheaths or anything that traps moisture.

• Use Regularly: With time and use, the blade will build a patina that helps protect it and adds character.
